Nagpur: 94-Year-Old Woman Dies in Accidental Fire During Prayer at Home

Nagpur: A 94-year-old woman died after her clothes caught fire while she was performing a prayer ritual at her home in Dixit Nagar under Kapil Nagar Police Station on August 1, 2025.
Police said the victim, Vimla Digambar Lakhe, was praying near her household shrine around 1:30 pm when her gown accidentally came into contact with an oil lamp. The flames engulfed her clothes, causing severe burn injuries. She was first rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and later shifted to AIIMS Nagpur, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Kapi Nagar Police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) based on medical information. Sub-Inspector Ranjit Ranavare is conducting further inquiries.
