NAGPUR: Sitabuldi police have registered a case against a 21-year-old man from Seoni district in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl, who was subsequently found to be 22 weeks pregnant during a medical examination at Mayo Hospital.

According to the police complaint, the minor girl had become acquainted with the accused, identified as Pankaj, who allegedly established physical relations with her despite knowing that she was underage.

The alleged incident took place at an open plot near a hostel in the Indira locality, opposite Jawahar Convent College in Nagpur. The police record mentions the period between May 24 and May 31, 2026, in connection with the incident.

The matter came to light after the girl complained of abdominal pain. Her family took her to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), also known as Mayo Hospital, where medical examinations revealed that she was approximately 22 weeks pregnant.

Following the disclosure, a complaint was lodged, and Sitabuldi police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Further investigation is underway.
