NAGPUR: A 52-year-old man was apprehended by Lakadganj police for allegedly exposing his genitals to a 17-year-old girl at Chitar Oli Metro Station on Central Avenue in Nagpur.

According to the police complaint, the incident took place on October 22 when the minor girl was waiting near a lift at Chitar Oli Metro Station to travel to Shankar Nagar Metro Station.

An unidentified man allegedly unzipped his trousers and exposed his private parts in front of the girl, leaving her frightened. She subsequently informed her parents about the incident, following which they alerted the metro station’s security officials.

During the investigation, police apprehended the suspect, identified as Ajay Jeevan Ramteke (52), a resident of Bhaldarpura in Nagpur, on October 24. The girl subsequently identified him, police said.

Based on the complaint lodged by the girl’s family, Lakadganj police registered a case under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
