Nagpur: A 22-year-old married woman has accused two men she befriended during a computer course of repeatedly drugging her with MD (Mephedrone), sexually assaulting her, and blackmailing her with obscene photographs and videos. Khaparkheda Police have registered a case against the duo and launched a search to trace them.
The accused have been identified as Anurag Kataria (25) and Ashish Shastri (25), both residents of Dahegaon Rangari.
According to the police, the survivor, whose identity has been withheld and is referred to as Sanjana (name changed), enrolled in a computer class after her marriage. There, in November 2024, she became acquainted with Anurag Kataria, and the two gradually developed a friendship.
Investigators said Anurag allegedly introduced the woman to MD (Mephedrone) and encouraged her to consume the narcotic. Over time, she allegedly became dependent on the substance. He later introduced her to his friend, Ashish Shastri.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that the two men took her to their room on several occasions, made her consume MD, and sexually assaulted her. She further claimed that they recorded obscene photographs and videos of her and repeatedly threatened to circulate the material on social media if she disclosed the assaults to anyone.
The survivor also alleged that the accused continued to force her into physical relations and, on one occasion, entered her house and gang-raped her.
Distressed by the repeated abuse and threats, the woman eventually confided in her husband. He stood by her and encouraged her to approach the police. The couple then lodged a complaint with Khaparkheda Police Station.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against both accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to apprehend them. Further investigation is in progress.
