Nagpur: Hudkeshwar Police have registered a case against a woman, her relatives, and several others after a 36-year-old man alleged that he was assaulted, robbed of cash and his mobile phone, and threatened with death amid an ongoing matrimonial dispute.
According to police, the complainant, Mahendra Vasudeo Telrandhe (36), a resident of Ward No. 3, Bela in Umred taluka of Nagpur district, has been living separately from his wife, Priya Telrandhe, for the past six months due to domestic disputes.
Police said that on the night of June 20, 2026, at around 8.15 pm, Mahendra was travelling with his friend Devendrakumar Chillate when his path was allegedly blocked near Dighori Chowk by his wife and her sister, Madhuri Chandankhede, who reportedly parked a moped across the road. Mahendra alleged that his wife, along with Ganesh Chandankhede, Sanjay Tarote, Kiran Shedke, and two to three other unidentified persons, confronted him, dragged him off his vehicle, grabbed his collar and assaulted him.
During the altercation, Mahendra’s wife reportedly fell unconscious after feeling dizzy and was admitted to Shri Krupa Hospital, Mhalgi Nagar, for treatment. Mahendra alleged that after he left the spot, one of the accused called him and threatened to kill him and burn him alive.
Later, when Mahendra went to Shri Krupa Hospital, he alleged that Ganesh Chandankhede, Sanjay Tarote and one of their associates dragged him outside, assaulted him with fists and kicks, and snatched his mobile phone and ₹15,000 in cash.
He further alleged that one of the accused brandished a knife taken from an autorickshaw and threatened to kill him, pour petrol on him, and cut his body into pieces. The accused allegedly forced him into an autorickshaw and later dropped him near Dighori Chowk. Mahendra then booked a cab and went to Wathoda Police Station to lodge a complaint. Since the incident had occurred under the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar Police Station, the complaint was transferred there.
Based on the complaint, Hudkeshwar Police have registered a case under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including offences related to wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, assault, criminal intimidation, robbery, extortion, intentional insult, and common intention. Further investigation is underway.
