Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Unit 4 arrested a 26-year-old man within three hours of allegedly luring away a 14-year-old boy from his home in the Nandanvan area on Friday morning.

According to police, the accused, Siddharth Arun Pillewan, 26, a resident of Shastri Nagar in Nandanvan, had a quarrel with his wife. A 39-year-old complainant intervened, took Pillewan’s wife to a hospital and advised him against fighting with her. Police said Pillewan allegedly held a grudge against the complainant over the intervention.

Around 6 am on September 11, Pillewan allegedly went to the complainant’s house and took his 14-year-old son with him on the pretext of taking him to his father. He subsequently called the complainant and allegedly threatened him, saying he should bring his wife home immediately or he would harm his son.

Following the complaint, Nandanvan police registered a case under Sections 136(2), 140(1) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Crime Branch Unit 4 launched a parallel investigation and gathered information about the accused and his relatives. Based on technical surveillance and information received by police constable Govind Deshmukh, Pillewan was traced and detained from the Pardi police station area.

The boy was safely recovered and handed over to his family. Police arrested Pillewan and seized the moped allegedly used in the offence (MH-31-CZ-8349), valued at ₹20,000.

The accused and seized vehicle were handed over to Nandanvan police for further action.
