Nagpur: A patrol team from Nandanvan Police Station arrested a 40-year-old man for brandishing a sharp weapon in a public area on Tuesday night. The incident occurred around 8.30 pm on November 18, when officers spotted the suspect creating a disturbance with a large iron knife near Bogainvilla Building on Wathoda Padam Road.
The man was intercepted and taken into custody. Police recovered a sizeable iron knife valued at around ₹500 from his possession. Upon questioning, the suspect identified himself as Yogesh Shrikant Pande, a resident of Yogeshwar Nagar near Dighori crematorium.
Officials said the accused was carrying the weapon with the intent to commit a cognizable offence, and his actions also violated prohibitory orders in force. A case under Sections 4/25 of the Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act has been registered.
Further investigation is underway.
