Nagpur: A dramatic incident unfolded in Nagpur’s Bhandewadi area on Wednesday morning after a leopard reportedly entered a second-floor apartment of a residential building, triggering panic among residents and drawing a large crowd to the spot. How the wild cat managed to reach the city and climb up to the upper floor remains a mystery, with no clear clues yet.
According to locals, the presence of the leopard was first noticed inside the building premises, after which they alerted the Help for Animal Welfare Association Nagpur. Upon reaching the site, the team confirmed the animal’s presence and immediately informed Nagpur District Wildlife Warden Ajinkya Bhatkar and the TTC Centre for necessary action.
The unexpected appearance of the leopard has raised serious concerns about wildlife movement near urban settlements. Rescue efforts were initiated to ensure the safety of both residents and the animal, while authorities began assessing how the big cat may have entered the city.
Further investigation is underway.
