Nagpur: A fatal road accident was reported under the jurisdiction of MIDC Police Station Nagpur, where a 52-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a speeding autorickshaw.

According to police, the incident occurred around 10:30 am near Mahindra Tractor Company, opposite Hanuman Temple on Hingna Road.

The victim, identified as Harichandra Mahadev Meshram, a resident of Sai Nagar, was crossing the road on foot when an autorickshaw (MH-31-FB-5879), allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner, rammed into him.

Meshram sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital Nagpur, where doctors declared him dead after examination.

Based on a complaint filed by Mohan Paturuji Chaudhary (43), police have registered a case against the autorickshaw driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act.

Further investigation is underway.
