Nagpur: A tragic road accident near Lakshminagar Chowk has led to the death of two individuals and serious injuries to two others. The case has been registered at the Kalamna Police Station.
The incident occurred around 10:30 PM on April 7, 2026, when four individuals were traveling on a Hero Splendor motorcycle after attending a wedding function.
The bike, driven by Suraj Bhagwat Ratre (22), with three others onboard, collided from behind with a stationary Eicher truck (CG 08 AS 8755) that was allegedly parked negligently on a public road near a school at Lakshminagar Chowk.
All four riders sustained severe injuries. They were rushed to nearby hospitals, including Bhavani Hospital and Mayo Hospital. Doctors declared Suraj Ratre and Balwant Banjare (approx. 50) dead during treatment.
The remaining injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment at a trauma center in Nagpur.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against the truck driver for negligent parking leading to death and injuries under relevant sections of the law, along with provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The investigation is ongoing.
