Nagpur: In a significant breakthrough, Jaripatka Police have apprehended a habitual offender and three juvenile offenders involved in a series of house burglaries across the city. The police have recovered stolen valuables worth ₹8,70,100, bringing to light at least six burglary cases linked to the accused.
According to reports, on January 26, 2025, complainant Amit Sobharajmal Bhojwani, a resident of Dayanand Park Housing Board Society, Jaripatka, reported a burglary at his residence. Thieves broke into his house by tampering with the main door lock between 1:30 AM and 5:00 AM and stole gold and silver jewelry, cash, and other valuables worth ₹13,20,400. A case was registered under BNS sections 305(1), 331(3), and 331(4) at Jaripatka Police Station.
Jaripatka Police team scrutinised nearly 180 CCTV footages and tracked the suspects through call records. Based on the gathered intelligence, three juveniles were apprehended, and upon interrogation, they confessed to the crime. They also admitted their involvement in multiple burglaries.
The police recovered ₹1,67,450 worth of stolen property from the juveniles. Further investigations led to the arrest of Ashish alias Bodiya Yadavrao Chaudhary (42), who had been luring juveniles with money to commit burglaries and selling the stolen goods.
Chaudhary was arrested, and jewelry worth ₹7,03,100 was seized from him. The total recovered stolen property now stands at ₹8,70,100 out of ₹17,92,400 stolen.
Ashish Chaudhary was also a wanted suspect in Case No. 67/25 under BNS sections 109, 189(2)(4), 75(2), and 54 at Jaripatka Police Station.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of DCP Niketan Kadam (Zone 5, Nagpur City), ACP Satyavir Bandiwar (Jaripatka Division), Senior PI Arun Kshirsagar (Jaripatka Police Station). The investigating team included PSI Ashish Morkhade, along with a team of cybercrime and local police personnel.
