Nagpur: In a major fraud case reported under the jurisdiction of Beltarodi Police Station, four persons have been booked for allegedly duping a 64-year-old resident of nearly ₹1.94 crore on the pretext of securing Central Government jobs and business allotments.
The complainant, Namdeo Vishwanath Kadu (64), a resident of Shubham Apartment, Ujjwal Society, Narendra Nagar, was introduced to accused Ramchandra Mehpat Patil (36), a resident of Multai in Madhya Pradesh, through a neighbour. Patil allegedly claimed to be an assistant to a Personal Assistant in a Central Ministry. Another accused, Devendra Bhargava (55) of Gwalior, was projected as a Personal Assistant in a Central Ministry.
The accused allegedly assured the complainant that they could secure jobs in departments such as Railways, Income Tax, Archaeological Department, NITI Aayog, and FCI. They also promised to arrange gas agencies, petrol pumps, warehouses and government tenders.
Police said the accused, along with their associates Shivam Santoshkumar Sen (35) of Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, and Yogesh Mishra (61) of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, conspired to cheat the complainant and his relatives. They allegedly collected ₹75 lakh from Kadu through online transfers and cash payments, and extracted additional amounts from his relatives on similar promises.
In total, the accused allegedly obtained ₹1,94,74,600 from the complainant and his family members. Fake appointment letters and forged allotment documents bearing fabricated signatures and seals were allegedly issued to gain their trust.
Following a detailed inquiry, Sub-Inspector Amol Shinde registered offences against the accused under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to cheating, forgery, criminal breach of trust and conspiracy. Further investigation is in progress.
