Nagpur: Shantinagar Police have booked a 29-year-old man for defrauding another of ₹10.37 lakh through a credit card scam.

The complainant, Sachin Ramesh Giri (32), from Kavarapeth, alleged that the accused, Vishal Lakharam Khamecha of Khamla, gained his trust by claiming he could purchase electronics using credit cards at discounted rates and resell them for profit.

Initially, the accused delivered on his promise, gaining Giri’s confidence. Later, he used Giri and his relatives’ credit cards to buy electronics worth ₹10.37 lakh but neither paid the bills nor returned the goods, causing financial loss between October 2023 and May 2024.

Based on the investigation, police have registered a case under Sections 420 and 406 of IPC at Shantinagar Police Station. Further inquiry is ongoing.
