Nagpur: In a strong and focused crackdown under “Operation Thunder”, the Nagpur City Police, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Singal, conducted surprise raids at two illegal hookah parlours — Shosha in Gokulpeth and The Hub in Sadar.
During the action, police found hookah pots being openly served to customers, despite a complete ban on hookah consumption in public places across Nagpur. At The Hub, the police team also discovered unauthorised constructions on the premises. Both establishments were immediately sealed, and all hookah-related materials were seized. Customers present were identified, and further inquiry is underway.
The police have raised serious concern over the harmful effects of shisha (hookah). Studies have shown that one hour of hookah smoking can deliver as much smoke as consuming 100 or more cigarettes. It contains high levels of nicotine, carbon monoxide, and cancer-causing chemicals, severely impacting heart and lung health, especially among youth.
Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Singal stated in clear terms that, “No one is allowed to violate the law. We will continue strict and sustained action against all such illegal and harmful setups under Operation Thunder.”
He also urged the public to stay away from addictive habits and cooperate with the police in building a safer and healthier society.
