NAGPUR: Gold jewellery weighing around 205 grams and valued at approximately ₹10.25 lakh was allegedly stolen from a house in the Gokulpeth area under Ambazari police station limits. The theft came to light after the house owner’s wife discovered that the ornaments kept in a wooden cupboard in the bedroom were missing.

According to the police complaint, the complainant, Dharamdas Vatani, 44, had kept the jewellery in the bedroom cupboard on August 31, 2026. The ornaments were reportedly last checked by his wife on October 23, around 8 pm, when she found them missing.

As Vatani was travelling abroad at the time, his wife informed him about the missing jewellery over the phone. After returning to India on October 27, he searched the house but could not find the ornaments. He subsequently contacted the emergency helpline 112 and informed the police about the suspected theft.

The stolen property reportedly includes a gold bracelet, gold bangles, two gold earrings, five gold chains and six gold rings. The chains included a gold pellet chain, a rhodium-finish gold chain, a broken gold chain, a disco-style chain and an older chain with a rice-grain design.

The total value of the missing ornaments has been estimated at ₹10.25 lakh.

Ambazari police registered a case against an unidentified person under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police officials have been informed about the incident, and further investigation is underway.
