Four, including three women, confront farmer over alleged teasing, rob him of mobile

Nagpur: A 46-year-old farmer was allegedly assaulted and robbed of his mobile phone by three unidentified women and a man while he was returning home from a bar in Nagpur’s Gittikhadan area late on Tuesday night.


The complainant, Pankaj Pandurangji Vaidya, a resident of Barde Layout near Dinshaw Factory, told police that the incident took place between 11 pm on October 6 and 2.11 am on October 7.


According to the complaint, Vaidya was returning home after visiting a local bar when an unidentified woman called out to him from behind and asked him to stop. When he turned around, three women and a man allegedly approached him on a black moped and a motorcycle.


One of the women allegedly confronted Vaidya, claiming that she had learnt that he had been making remarks about her and teasing her. Vaidya reportedly denied the allegation.


The accused allegedly abused him and assaulted him with fists and blows. During the attack, they allegedly snatched his Samsung mobile phone worth around ₹15,000 from his shirt pocket before fleeing the spot.


Based on Vaidya’s complaint, Gittikhadan police registered a case under Sections 308(2), 115(2), 3(5) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).


Police are investigating the incident and making efforts to identify and trace the four suspects.
