Nagpur: A 34-year-old woman was allegedly cheated of ₹28.08 lakh in a fraudulent flat deal in Mihan after a man posing as a property dealer’s agent allegedly took money from him for a flat and later had the property sold to another person.
According to the complaint, the accused, Ritesh Hariharprasad Tiwari (37), allegedly introduced himself as an agent of Om Shivam Buildcon, a property dealer, and gained the complainant’s trust by promising to arrange the purchase of Flat No. 301 at Shiv Kailash Township, Mihan.
The complainant allegedly paid ₹28.08 lakh to Tiwari for the transaction. However, instead of completing the deal, Tiwari allegedly used the money for his personal benefit and subsequently got the flat sold to another person through the company.
When the complainant demanded his money back and approached Tiwari, he and his father, Hariharprasad Tiwari, allegedly threatened her and warned her against approaching the police.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly told the complainant that she should not demand his money back or file a police complaint, otherwise they would “deal with him” if she did so.
Following an inquiry into the complaint, Sonegaon police registered a case under Sections 318(4) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), against Ritesh Tiwari and his father.
Police are investigating the alleged property fraud, the financial transaction and the threats issued to the complainant.
