Nagpur: In a major action against illegal liquor manufacturing in Nagpur, the State Excise Department busted a fake country and foreign liquor factory operating from a residential bungalow in Gondwana Pimpri area of Hingna. The raid was conducted at Bungalow No. 133 in My Town Society, Sector-8, and resulted in the seizure of spurious liquor and equipment worth ₹24.67 lakh.
Acting under the supervision of Divisional Deputy Commissioner Ganesh Patil and District Superintendent Suraj Kumar Ramod, the Excise Department’s divisional flying squad recovered 1,090 litres of fake blended country liquor, 356 bottles of Goa whisky banned for sale in Maharashtra, and 90 bottles of spurious country liquor. Officials also seized an electronic bottle-sealing machine, fake paper labels of country liquor brands, plastic corks, empty bottles, counterfeit Royal Stag foreign liquor labels, plastic seals, and a four-wheeler used in the operation.
A case has been registered under Crime No. 19/2026 against seven accused, including absconding prime accused Shubham Govind Tiwari (31). The other accused named in the FIR are Govind Ramdatt Tiwari (59), Shailendra Dhurve (24), Raghunath Uikey (21), Rajkumar Uikey (25), Dwarka Shivalal Inwati (45), and Pramod Nathhuji Sayam (42).
The operation was carried out by inspectors Dashrath Kshirsagar and Balaji Chalnewar, along with assistant inspectors Jagdish Pawar, Vaibhav Diwan, Amit Kshirsagar, Lambade, and Shubham Dhoke, supported by excise personnel. Further investigation is being conducted by Assistant Inspector Jagdish Pawar of the Nagpur divisional flying squad.
