Nagpur: In a major fraud case, Sonegaon Police have registered an offence against a Pune-based man accused of cheating at least 19 people of ₹92.44 lakh by falsely claiming to be a senior officer in the Maharashtra Forest Department and promising government tenders and jobs.

The accused has been identified as Vivek Shyam Kamble (29), a resident of Dwarka Nagari, Chikhali Pradhikaran, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune.

The complaint was filed by Angad Gulab Khaire (39), a resident of Nanda on Koradi Road, Nagpur. According to the complaint, Khaire met the accused through mutual contacts at a cricket club in MIHAN, Nagpur.

Police said Kamble allegedly introduced himself as a senior Forest Department official and tender head. He reportedly showed an identification card and claimed to have helped several contractors secure government tenders.

Gaining the complainant's trust, the accused allegedly advised him to establish a company and obtain GST registration to become eligible for Forest Department contracts. Following the instructions, Khaire formed a company named Dakshita Enterprises.

Kamble then allegedly told the complainant that his company was not an authorized Forest Department vendor and would need to purchase cables through another firm, Sai Enterprises, before supplying them elsewhere. Acting on the accused's directions, the complainant transferred ₹6.44 lakh to a bank account provided by him.

When no tender materialized and Kamble stopped responding to calls, the complainant conducted inquiries and discovered that the accused was not employed by the Forest Department.

Further investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly used similar tactics to cheat multiple victims, including businessmen and job seekers. He is also accused of posing as an official associated with Metro projects and promising jobs to candidates in exchange for money.

Police believe that between October 1, 2025, and February 28, 2026, Kamble fraudulently collected money from at least 19 victims by offering fake assurances of government tenders and employment opportunities.

Based on the complaint, Sonegaon Police have registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to cheating, criminal breach of trust, and fraud. Further investigation is underway.

Police Appeal to the Public

Sonegaon Police have appealed to citizens who may have been cheated by the accused through similar promises of government tenders or jobs to come forward with supporting documents. Victims may contact Sonegaon Police Station directly or call 0712-2284110.
