Crime Branch Unit-5 Cracks Ajni House-Breaking Case, Two Arrested in Nagpur

Nagpur: Swift action by Crime Branch Unit-5 led to the arrest of two youths involved in a house-breaking incident and a vehicle theft, bringing two pending cases to light.


According to police, between 4.30 pm on September 8 and 8 am on September 10, a house in Plot No. 244, Balaji Nagar Extension, Ajni, was burgled while the owner, 64-year-old Kalpana Mahesh Bhovare, was away in Mumbai. Thieves broke the lock and decamped with ₹15,000 in cash, assorted gold ornaments, and a DVR, together valued at around ₹72,000. An FIR under Sections 305(A), 331(3), and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Ajni Police Station.


During a parallel probe, Unit-5 officers used technical intelligence to trace the suspects and detained Mohammed Faizaj Ansari (23) of Thawkar Wadi, Bhandewadi, and Afroj Shamshad Ansari (23) of Ambe Nagar, Pardi. Both confessed to the Ajni burglary and also admitted to a vehicle theft in Nandanvan police limits. Police recovered gold ornaments, a two-wheeler, and an iPhone collectively worth ₹2.98 lakh.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravindrakumar Singal, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil, with PI Sandeep Buwa leading the team. Further investigation is underway.
