Nagpur: Unit 3 of the Crime Branch arrested a 22-year-old drug peddler on Friday night, seizing 5.83 grams of MD drugs worth Rs 58,300.

The accused has been identified as Hasim Rashid Sheikh, a resident of Garoba Maidan, Mate Chowk, Lakadganj.

According to police sources, the Unit 3 team was on patrol when they intercepted a youth displaying suspicious behavior. He was subsequently cornered and interrogated. Upon searching him, the cops found MD drugs in his possession. He was then taken to Lakadganj Police Station. An offense under sections 8(c) and 22(B) of the NDPS Act was registered against him.

Further investigations are ongoing. The Unit 3 team conducted the operation under the guidance of senior police officials.
