Nagpur: A burglary was reported at Swaraj Beer Shopee in Nandanvan after unknown thieves broke into the establishment and stole ₹1,28,800 in cash from the counter drawer. The theft occurred sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, according to the police.
Manager Sushil Govardhan Raut, who had secured the day’s earnings inside a drawer at the shop counter, discovered the theft when he returned the next morning. Police said the accused broke open the main lock of the shop at Shop No. 4, NIT Complex, before entering and fleeing with the cash.
Based on a complaint filed by shop owner Atul Shantilal Jaiswal, API Nilesh Dalvi registered a case under Sections 305(A), 331(3), and 331(4) of the IPC at Nandanvan Police Station. Investigators have begun reviewing nearby CCTV footage and are working to identify the suspect.
Police have urged shop owners to reinforce their security measures, especially for cash-handling businesses, as nighttime burglaries have seen a recent rise in the region.
