Nagpur: In a major boost to rail connectivity between Vidarbha and the Konkan-Goa region, the Ministry of Railways has approved the regularisation of the Nagpur–Madgaon special train, converting it into a full-fledged express service.
The earlier demand-based Train No. 01139/01140 will now operate as the 11203/11204 Nagpur–Madgaon Express, offering passengers a more reliable and consistent travel option between Nagpur and Madgaon.
Bi-Weekly Schedule Announced
The newly designated express train will run twice a week:
- 11203 Nagpur–Madgaon Express
- Departs Nagpur at 15:05 hrs every Wednesday and Saturday
- Arrives in Madgaon at 17:45 hrs on Thursday and Sunday
- 11204 Madgaon–Nagpur Express
- Departs Madgaon at 20:00 hrs every Thursday and Sunday
- Arrives in Nagpur at 21:30 hrs on Friday and Monday
Key Halts Across Maharashtra and Konkan
The train will pass through several important stations, enhancing regional connectivity. Major halts include:
Wardha, Akola, Bhusaval, Nashik (via Nashik Road), Kalyan, Panvel, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, Sawantwadi, and Thivim, among others.
Boost for Tourism and Economy
Officials from Indian Railways stated that converting the special service into a regular express train will significantly improve travel planning for passengers. The move is also expected to boost tourism to Goa and strengthen economic ties between eastern Maharashtra and the coastal Konkan belt.
