Bangalore-Patna Indigo Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Nagpur Airport Due to Medical Emergency

Nagpur: An Indigo flight from Bangalore to Patna was forced to make an emergency landing at Nagpur Airport on Friday after a passenger, identified as Ingith Prashant, experienced a severe medical emergency mid-flight.


Prashant began exhibiting distressing symptoms, including severe shaking, loss of consciousness, and body stiffness, prompting the flight crew to take immediate action.


Upon landing, Prashant was swiftly transported to the Emergency Department at KIMS-Kingsway Hospitals in Nagpur. His condition was reported by his companion to Aejaz Shami, Deputy General Manager of Branding & Communications at KIMS-Kingsway Hospitals, who coordinated the emergency response.


Dr. Rupesh Bokade, a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at KIMS-Kingsway Hospitals, diagnosed Prashant with a seizure disorder. Initial assessments revealed that Prashant had an oxygen saturation (SpO2) level of 92% and was administered 2 liters of oxygen. Additional diagnostic tests, including an MRI, have been recommended, and he will be under the close supervision of a neurophysician.


KIMS-Kingsway Hospitals, equipped to handle such critical emergencies, has assured that Prashant will receive comprehensive care. The hospital’s medical team is committed to his recovery, and their swift response, along with the Indigo crew's prompt actions, has been crucial in ensuring timely medical intervention.
