Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, the Old Kamptee Police conducted a raid on a farmhouse in Tara Nagar and arrested fifteen individuals allegedly involved in gambling with playing cards on Sunday evening.
According to police, the operation was carried out between 3 pm and 9 pm on October 26 by the investigation team of Old Kamptee Police Station in the presence of panch witnesses. During the raid, the police caught the accused red-handed placing bets with cash.
The arrested accused have been identified as — Pintu Wasnik (30), resident of Bharatwada; Pravin Pathrabe (40), Rajesh Kamble (38), Rajkumar Bokde (36), and Roshan Kunte (34), all residents of Piwali Marbat Chowk; Ravindra Donekar (41), resident of Amgaon, Gondia; Suraj Bohare (32), resident of Maskasath; Prakash Verma (40) and Yuvraj Gonade (40), both residents of Kalamna; Nitesh Kohal (36), resident of Kanji House Chowk; Trilok Khot (27), resident of Jagnath Budhwari; Suresh Khavase (41), resident of Binaki Mangalwari; Shrikant Mohadikar (34), resident of Pachpaoli; Rahul Parate (30), resident of Navin Mangalwari; and Ravi Baghmare (40), resident of Kalamna, Nagpur.
Police seized cash worth ₹18,590, five mobile phones, a two-wheeler, a set of playing cards and other materials — all collectively valued at ₹1,37,600. A case under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act has been registered at Old Kamptee Police Station.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of DCP Dr. Sandeep Pakhale (Zone 6) and ACP Ankush Khedkar (Kamptee Division), led by PI Prashant Jumde and PSI Madhukar Nikhade with their team. Further investigation is underway.
