NAGPUR: An 11-year-old girl was allegedly subjected to inappropriate physical touching by her maternal uncle after he lured her under the pretext of playing in Mahal. Tehsil Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to the complaint, the girl’s parents have been living separately due to marital differences. The girl and her sister reside with their mother at their maternal grandparents’ home.

The incident reportedly came to light on November 5 when the girl, aged 11 years and nine months, told her father that her maternal uncle, aged 38, had called her on the pretext of playing and allegedly touched her inappropriately without her consent, causing her distress.

Following the disclosure, the father approached the police and lodged a complaint. Tehsil Police subsequently registered a case against the accused under Sections 75(2) of the BNS and Sections 9 and 10 of the POCSO Act.

Further investigation is underway.
