Nagpur: Roshan Shaikh, a 37-year-old notorious offender from city known for exploiting married women and blackmailing them with explicit images and videos, now faces a fresh rape allegation from a 29-year-old woman.
On Monday, February 10, police paraded Shaikh in his neighborhood, taking him to his residence in Friends Colony in full public view. The unusual procession occurred after their investigation vehicle developed a technical glitch, forcing the officers to walk 250 meters with Shaikh in custody.
According to police sources, the woman alleged that Shaikh repeatedly engaged in sexual acts with her over the course of a year at various hotels, under the pretext of marriage. She further claimed that he recorded her in compromising positions and later defamed her by sharing explicit images with friends and acquaintances.
Shaikh was apprehended two days ago after a case was registered at the Sadar Police Station. His mobile phone was seized, and authorities suspect he may have additional phones hidden at his residence or other locations, potentially containing further evidence of his misdeeds.
Shaikh’s criminal record includes 11 prior offences, and he was acquitted of MCOCA charges last year. He also faced a previous rape case in Mumbai.
Police are scrutinizing Shaikh’s history of luring married women and blackmailing them with explicit content. With his latest arrest, investigators are hoping to unravel more evidence of his involvement in such activities.
Authorities are urging potential victims to come forward and cooperate with the investigation.
