Nagpur: Scrap Worker Attacks Colleague with Sword Over Work Dispute in Gokulpeth; Arrested for Attempted Murder

Nagpur: In a shocking incident, a work-related dispute between two scrap workers escalated into a violent sword attack in Gokulpeth Market under Ambazari Police Station limits on Saturday, July 5.


The victim, identified as Suraj Kumar Gupta, sustained serious injuries and is currently in critical condition, receiving treatment at a city hospital.


The accused, Zaid Ali, has been arrested by Ambazari Police on charges of attempted murder.


According to officials, both Gupta and Ali are employed at Agrawal Scrap Shop in Gokulpeth. On Saturday, July 5, an argument erupted between the two over workload distribution, with one accusing the other of avoiding duties. The verbal spat soon turned physical when Ali allegedly picked up a sword from the scrap pile and attacked Gupta in full public view.


Locals immediately informed the police. A team from Ambazari Police Station rushed to the scene and apprehended the accused. Based on Gupta’s complaint, an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempt to murder has been registered against Zaid Ali.


Police confirmed that the accused remains in custody, and further investigations are underway to determine the full sequence of events.
