Nagpur: Panic gripped the Zero Mile area on Monday night, May 5, after the body of an unidentified 60-year-old woman was found in a semi-nude state under suspicious circumstances. The discovery has raised concerns of a possible sexual assault, although police await post-mortem results for confirmation.

According to Sitabuldi Police, the incident came to light around 9:30 pm when passersby spotted the body near the Zero Mile premises and alerted authorities. Police personnel rushed to the spot and began preliminary investigations.

“The woman appears to be a nomad and was found murdered. Due to the condition in which the body was discovered, we suspect sexual assault, but only a post-mortem report can confirm that,” said Police Inspector Vitthalsingh Rajput of Sitabuldi Police Station.

The police have registered a case of murder and sent the body to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination. Efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased.

Sitabuldi police have initiated a thorough investigation and are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to trace potential suspects or leads. Further details are awaited.
