Nagpur: Amid the ongoing heatwave conditions in Nagpur, police have registered two separate cases of accidental deaths after unidentified men were found unconscious on city roads and later declared dead at hospital. Authorities have not confirmed the cause of death, but the circumstances have raised suspicion of possible sunstroke-related fatalities.

In the first incident, under Jaripatka Police Station limits, an unidentified man believed to be around 42 years old was found unconscious near a bus stop in front of Tiwari’s residence at around 3 pm on May 29. Police rushed him to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Preliminary information suggests the deceased may have been a labourer named Jageshwar, but his identity is yet to be officially established. Jaripatka Police have registered an accidental death case and appealed to anyone knowing the deceased to come forward.

In a separate incident under Tehsil Police Station limits, another unidentified man, approximately 35 years old, was found lying unconscious on CA Road near Rokade Bandhu Shop at around 5.45 am on May 29. The deceased was described as dark-complexioned, slim-built, around 5 feet 5 inches tall, with black hair, wearing a white shirt and black trousers. He was also taken to Mayo Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Police have registered accidental death reports in both cases and are awaiting further medical examination reports. With Nagpur witnessing soaring temperatures and severe heatwave conditions over the past several days, investigators are also examining whe ther exposure to extreme heat or sunstroke could have contributed to the deaths. The exact cause, however, will be determined only after post-mortem findings and further inquiry.
