Nagpur: Yashodhara Nagar Police have registered a case of cheating against two accused for allegedly defrauding a woman entrepreneur of iron centering plates worth over ₹4.30 lakh.

Complainant Laxmi Ramesh Burde (35), a resident of Vinoba Bhave Nagar, runs a business renting iron plates used for construction slab centering work. Between September 17 and December 12, 2025, accused Shafeev Arif Akbani (35) and Mohammad Kaif Shova Akbani (22) allegedly took 345 iron centering plates on rent.

Police said the accused initially paid one month’s rent to gain the complainant’s trust. However, they later defaulted on payments and failed to return the plates valued at ₹4,30,560, thereby dishonestly misappropriating the material.

Based on the complaint, Yashodhara Nagar Police have registered an offence under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further probe is in progress.
