Nagpur: In a swift joint operation, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), South East Central Railway, Nagpur Division, apprehended a rape accused who had fled Telangana and was attempting to escape via train. The accused, identified as Rahul Kumar (26), son of Bilas Ram, resident of Ratnaha, Bhisnupur, Dhusmari, Khagaria district (Bihar), was caught near Gondia Railway Station on October 30, 2025, around 2:30 pm.
According to RPF officials, SP Kamareddy (Telangana) had informed Divisional Security Commissioner (DSC) Deep Chandra Arya at 9:30 pm on October 29, stating that a rape accused was fleeing by train. Taking immediate cognizance, Arya ordered an intensive search of all express trains passing through Gondia jurisdiction from the southern route.
Following the directive, Inspector N.P. Pandey, RPF Post In-charge Gondia, circulated the accused’s photo across WhatsApp groups and deployed the division’s task force for an extensive manhunt. CCTV footage helped track the accused’s movement at Amgaon Station, where local RPF and police teams were alerted. Although he initially evaded capture, further analysis of CCTV footage from Amgaon and Gondia revealed his exit from the main gate of Gondia Station. Acting swiftly, RPF Gondia and Telangana Police jointly nabbed him.
The accused was wanted in Crime No. 284/2025 registered at Police Station Manchareddy, Kamareddy District (Telangana) under Section 64 of BNS, for sexual assault of a woman. After his arrest, medical examination and transit remand formalities were completed before handing him over to Telangana Police.
