Nagpur: A tragic incident occurred in Babulwada village under Parseoni Police Station limits on Thursday evening, when a shepherd and his herd of goats were killed after being struck by lightning.

The deceased has been identified as Tulshiram Bawankar, a resident of Babulwada.

According to police sources, Bawankar had taken his goats to graze in the field. Around evening, the weather suddenly changed as strong winds and thunderstorms lashed Parseoni tehsil. Amid the heavy lightning strikes, one bolt directly hit Bawankar and his goats, killing them on the spot.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village. Locals have expressed deep grief over the sudden death and are urging the government to provide financial compensation to the bereaved family.

Parseoni Police have registered the case and further procedures are underway.
