Nagpur: In a significant development, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Crime Branch traced a woman who had gone missing as a minor seven years ago. She has now been located and brought before police authorities.

The girl, who was 17 when she disappeared in July 2019 from the MIDC police jurisdiction, is now 24 years old and the mother of a one-year-old child. At the time of her disappearance on July 10, 2019, a kidnapping case under Section 363 of the IPC was registered.

After sustained parallel investigations, a team led by Inspector Lalita Todase tracked her to Gwarighat in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. She was taken into custody on March 27, 2026.

During questioning, she stated that she had eloped with Satyam Bobde, whom she subsequently married. The couple has a son, Yuvraj, aged one year, while her husband is presently employed in Hyderabad.

Police officials said the two became acquainted when Satyam worked near her residence. Their interaction reportedly developed into a relationship through frequent meetings and mobile communication.

According to investigators, the woman was suffering from epilepsy and allegedly did not receive adequate care at home, which may have influenced her decision to leave. After counseling, she and her child were handed over to MIDC Police for further legal formalities.
