Nagpur: The Maharashtra government has appointed Senior District Government Prosecutor Nitin Telgote as the Special Public Prosecutor in the MCOCA case involving notorious criminal Ranjit Safelkar and others.
The case, registered at Pachpaoli Police Station (Crime No. 225/2016), involves Sharad alias Kalu Hate, Safelkar, and Divakar Kotulwar, along with 11 other accused.
The trial is currently being conducted before District and Sessions Judge-2, Shri Purwar. The Legal and Judiciary Department, Ministry of Law, Mumbai, issued an official notification on March 26, 2025, confirming Telgote’s appointment.

Nitin Telgote is a highly experienced prosecutor with a strong track record in handling serious criminal cases. In the past, he successfully prosecuted Raju Birha in a triple murder case, leading to a death sentence in the District Court.
