Nagpur: A tragic road accident near Mahalgi Nagar Chowk in Hudkeshwar claimed the life of a 64-year-old man and left his wife critically injured on January 15, 2025, at around 1:30 p.m. Hudkeshwar police have registered a case against the truck driver responsible for the collision.

The deceased, Morashwar Gawande, a resident of Gadge Nagar, was riding a Pleasure scooter (MH 31 DU 9350) with his wife, Shila Gawande (55), when a speeding Tata container truck (MH 40 Y 9627) rammed into their vehicle from behind.

The truck, driven recklessly by 24-year-old Vikas Kumar Ramcharan Gautam, a native of Uttar Pradesh, caused fatal injuries to Morashwar, who was pronounced dead at Government Medical College and Hospital. Shila is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries.

Following a complaint filed by their son, Prashant Gawande (35), the police have registered a case under Sections 106(1) and 281 of the BNS, along with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
