Nagpur: In a disturbing case of drunk driving, an advocate sustained serious injuries after being hit and dragged by a speeding car near Ajni Square on late Friday night. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for strict action against the accused.

The victim, Advocate Syed Mubbashir, was hit by a WagonR bearing registration number MH 49 CD 0645, reportedly driven under the influence of alcohol. Shockingly, even after the impact, the driver did not stop the vehicle and continued dragging the advocate for several meters, endangering his life.

Alert bystanders at Ajni Square acted swiftly, intercepted the car, and rescued Advocate Mubbashir from further harm. He was immediately rushed to Citrizon Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for multiple fractures and other serious injuries.

Following the incident, the driver was taken to Bajaj Nagar Police Station, where an FIR was registered. However, in a move that has triggered strong criticism, the accused was reportedly released after being served a notice, with no immediate stringent action taken.

The legal community and local residents have expressed deep concern over the handling of the case, calling for the immediate arrest of the accused and strict legal proceedings.
