Nagpur: Kapil Nagar Police arrested two men for allegedly carrying a deadly weapon and violating prohibitory orders during a midnight patrol operation on May 26.

According to police, around 1:45 am, a Kapil Nagar Police patrol team noticed three suspicious men riding triple-seat on a black Hero Splendor motorcycle without a rear registration number plate in the Prabhat Colony area. When police attempted to stop them, one of the suspects fled the spot while two others were detained for questioning.

The arrested accused were identified as Ayush alias Mallya Vinod Meshram, 25, a resident of Bezanbagh, Jaripatka, and Yeshudas alias Senky Arvind Parmar, 24, a resident of Lashkaribagh, Pachpaoli.

During the search conducted in the presence of witnesses, police recovered an iron knife worth ₹200 from one of the accused. Officers also seized the motorcycle bearing registration number MH-49-CU-4089.

The total value of the seized property is estimated at ₹20,200.

Police said the accused were allegedly roaming suspiciously with the weapon with the intention of committing a cognizable offence and had violated prohibitory orders in force.

A case has been registered at Kapil Nagar Police Station under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Both accused have been arrested, while police are searching for the third suspect who escaped from the spot.

Further investigation is underway.
