Nagpur: A 20-year-old parking attendant was allegedly attacked with a screwdriver by an unidentified youth outside Jade Leaf Café on North Ambazari Road in Dharampeth during the late hours of Tuesday, September 1. Sitabuldi police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused.

The victim has been identified as Akshay Vinod Yaneshwar (20), a resident of Naya Godam Basti in New Kamptee, who works as a parking attendant at the café.

According to police, the incident took place around 11 pm on September 1, when Yaneshwar was assisting customers in parking their vehicles. An unidentified youth, aged around 20 and wearing a purple shirt, arrived at the spot on a moped.

The youth allegedly showed Yaneshwar an old photograph of a young woman and asked whether she had completed her shift. When Yaneshwar replied that he did not know the woman, the accused allegedly became angry.

He then reportedly pulled out a screwdriver from his vehicle and attacked Yaneshwar, hitting him on the cheek before fleeing the spot on his moped.

The injured parking attendant was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where he received medical treatment. Based on his complaint and the medical report, Sitabuldi police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and making efforts to identify and trace the accused. The motive behind the sudden attack remains unclear.
