Nagpur: In a landmark development, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) has successfully completed its first-ever Master Drone Instructor Course, marking a significant leap towards integrating advanced drone technology into youth training. The pioneering course was conducted at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Kamptee, Nagpur.

The initiative underscores NCC’s commitment to modernising its curriculum by embracing cutting-edge technologies and equipping cadets with skills for the future. The Master Drone Instructor Course was tailored to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and practical training in drone operation, manufacturing, maintenance, and aerial navigation.

Certified candidates from this batch are now authorized to operate Remote Pilot Training Organizations (RPTOs), and those affiliated with the NCC will also receive Remote Pilot Certificates (RPCs) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), giving them a formal edge in India’s burgeoning drone industry.

This initiative follows the success of Operation Sindoor and aligns with the Government of India’s broader vision to harness the potential of drones across various sectors. The course is expected to open new career avenues for NCC cadets and enhance their role in national development.

The inaugural batch featured candidates from multiple NCC directorates across the country, including Maharashtra, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Karnataka, and Goa. Notably, two cadets from Nagpur were part of this historic training batch — a proud moment for the city hosting this transformative programme.

Group Captain Ratnakar Singh, Defence PRO Nagpur, described the development as a “historic milestone that will define the future of NCC training and youth empowerment in India.”

The achievement not only elevates NCC’s relevance in a tech-driven world but also positions India on the global map for youth-led drone innovation and training.
