Nagpur: A 31-year-old vehicle dealer was abducted in broad daylight and assaulted by a group of men over a ₹4 lakh loan dispute in Kalamna. The attackers recorded the incident and uploaded the assault video on Snapchat. Swift action by the Kalamna Police, who tracked the victim’s mobile location, led to his rescue within hours and the arrest of the accused.
The victim, identified as Shahid Ali Amjad Ali (31), a resident of Omsainagar, is engaged in vehicle trading. According to police, he had borrowed money from Afzal Ahmed Javed Iqbal (29, Ansar Nagar, Mominpura) and Syed Atif Johar Syed Nazim Johar (32, near Hafeez Bakery, Mominpura). The financial dispute escalated on August 28 afternoon, when the accused abducted Shahid from Belenagar under the pretext of discussing repayment.
During the assault, Kamran Nakib Ashpak Ahmed (29, Mominpura) also joined the gang, beating Shahid before confining him inside a garment shop named Dulhan in Mominpura. There, Jamal Ahmed Javed Iqbal (26, Ansar Nagar) filmed the brutal attack and uploaded the video on Snapchat.
Despite the ordeal, Shahid managed to alert police via helpline number 112. Acting promptly, the Kalamna police traced his phone location to Sitabuldi and rescued him.
The police have seized two motorcycles, four mobile phones, and a baseball bat used in the crime. The accused have been booked under charges of kidnapping, assault, and criminal intimidation.
The operation was executed by a team led by Senior PI Pravin Kale, along with officers Shashikant Musale, Dnyaneshwar More, Vilas Game, Vishal Bhaisare, Wasim Desai, Lalit Shende, Avinash Chauhan, and Ajay Gatlewar.
