Nagpur: Two Pistols, Live Cartridges Seized in Pachpaoli; Accused Arrested

Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, Pachpaoli police arrested a 25-year-old man and seized two pistols and three live cartridges worth ₹56,000 during a raid conducted on Thursday evening.


According to police, the action took place around 7:30 pm on August 28 when a patrol team received secret information about illegal possession of firearms. A raid was conducted in the presence of panch witnesses, leading to the arrest of the accused, identified as Abhay Ajay Hazare (25), resident of Balabhau Peth, near Shitla Mata Mandir, Nagpur.


During the operation, police initially recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges worth ₹29,000 from Hazare’s possession. During further interrogation, Hazare revealed that another pistol and a live cartridge were in his possession. Acting on his statement, police seized an additional pistol and one live cartridge worth ₹27,000.


Investigations revealed that the firearms had been supplied to Hazare by Anvit Valmik, a resident of Jaripatka. Police are probing his role in the case.


A total of two pistols and three live cartridges worth ₹56,000 were seized in the operation. A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 3, 7, 25 of the Indian Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act at Pachpaoli Police Station.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Navin Chandra Reddy, Additional CP (North) Rajendra Dabhale, DCP Rahul Madane (Zone 3), and ACP Shweta Khade (Lakadganj Division). The raid team included Senior PI Baburao Raut, PI Ranjit Majgaonkar, and staff members Dilip Pawar, Prakash Pakhan, Vasudev Jaipurkar, Ankush Rathod, Ashish Bawankar, and Padmakar Uke.
