Nagpur: In a heartening rescue operation, Kalamna police successfully traced and reunited a 15-year-old girl from Nagpur with her family after she fled home due to financial distress and reached Nepal in a bid to find work.

The incident came to light on May 2, when the girl, a resident of Kalamna, left home under the pretext of attending tuition but did not return. After a failed search, her family filed a missing person’s complaint at Kalamna Police Station.

Acting swiftly, the police reviewed CCTV footage and discovered that the girl had boarded a train to Tirodi in Madhya Pradesh. Further investigation revealed she had later passed through Patna railway station and taken a bus bound for Bittamore near the Nepal border.

The police team traced her to Janakpur, Nepal, where she was found under the care of Kishori Devi Vinod Pathak. During questioning, the teenager revealed that her father had recently lost his job, causing financial strain on the family. In a desperate attempt to support them, she planned to seek employment abroad and saw Nepal as an accessible option.

Pathak, who had found the girl alone at Sitamarhi bus stand, suspected she had run away and took her in. She immediately informed the Nagpur police and then reached out to the girl’s family.

Under the supervision of Police Inspector Praveen Kale and the dedicated efforts of constables Datta Ghugul, Sanjay Rathod, and Umarbeg Mirza, the girl was safely brought back to Nagpur. She was later reunited with her parents after proper counseling.
