Nagpur: A 20-year-old student suffered a fractured nose and a head injury requiring 10 to 12 stitches after he was allegedly assaulted by the driver of an MG Windsor electric car following a road rage incident near Meshram Putla Chowk, opposite Haldiram’s, under Sadar police station limits.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred on September 29 at around 5.30 pm when the complainant, Aditya Rajiv Pandey, a resident of Mahajan Complex in Zingabai Takli, was driving his Mahindra Scorpio (DD 01 G 6542).

The accused, aged between 28 and 30 years, was allegedly driving an MG Windsor (MH 49 CS 9888) on the wrong side of the road. He reportedly took a turn in front of Pandey’s SUV and questioned him about his driving.

When Pandey questioned the accused’s driving in return, the latter allegedly got out of his car and punched him on the nose. The accused also allegedly hit Pandey on the head with a metal bangle he was wearing, causing injuries.

Pandey was rushed to Kunal Hospital in Mankapur for treatment. Doctors conducted an X-ray and confirmed that his nose had been fractured. He also sustained a head injury that required 10 to 12 stitches.

After completing his treatment, Pandey approached Sadar police on October 9 and lodged a complaint. Police registered a case against the unidentified driver under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as recorded in the complaint.

Police are investigating the road rage assault.
