Nagpur: In a decisive move to enforce fire safety regulations, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation's fire and emergency services department will seal two gaming zones—V Play Gaming Zone in Manish Nagar and City Game Zone at MD Ginger Mall in Jaripatka—on Wednesday. This action is being taken under the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, 2006.
Officiating Chief Fire Officer BP Chandankhede and Civil Lines Fire Station Officer Tushar Barahate are leading the initiative. Senior police inspectors from Jaripatka and Beltarodi police stations have been informed and instructed to enforce strict legal action in case of non-compliance by the gaming zones.
The decision follows the fire department's declaration on July 2 that both gaming zone premises were unsafe due to firefighting deficiencies. Despite warnings, V Play Gaming Zone, managed by Akshay Chavan and owned by Shyam Shivhare, and City Game Zone, managed by Prakash Sonule, failed to implement the necessary safety measures.
A senior fire official also revealed that the department plans to target 27 rooftop restaurants across the city next. A proposal to seal these establishments has been submitted to Municipal Commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari.
