Nagpur: A case has been registered against a class teacher and the headmaster of Narayana Vidyalaya School in Bokhara, Nagpur, after a nine-year-old Class 4 student was allegedly prevented from appearing for her Hindi examination due to unpaid school fees.

The incident reportedly occurred on September 28, 2026, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm, within the jurisdiction of Koradi Police Station. According to the complaint, the school authorities allegedly made the girl sit in the library instead of allowing her to take the examination, causing her humiliation and mental distress.

According to the police report, the student's parent alleged that the school had refused to issue an examination hall ticket because the fees had not been paid.

While other students were provided hall tickets and allowed to appear for the examination, the girl was allegedly denied the same opportunity. The parent further claimed that the child was humiliated in front of fellow students, adversely affecting her emotional well-being. The complaint also alleged that the school authorities pressured and intimidated the family over the pending fees.

Following the complaint and a report submitted by the Education Department, Koradi Police registered a case on November 4, 2026 against the school's class teacher and headmaster. The case was registered under Sections 16, 17 and 29 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, along with Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

Police are investigating the allegations and the circumstances under which the student was allegedly denied permission to appear for the examination.

The incident has raised concerns about children's educational rights and the treatment of students over unpaid school fees.
