Nagpur: A property dispute involving a flat valued at ₹94 lakh has surfaced in Nagpur’s Indora area, where a couple has been accused of illegally taking possession of an apartment by changing its locks without the owner's permission.
The complaint was lodged by 62-year-old Nurjahan Abbas Dhamani, a resident of Ramnath City on Koradi Road. According to the police report, the accused, identified as Komal Prabhatkumar Yadav (40) and Prabhatkumar Yadav (41), residents of Vidarbha Palace near Rajput Restaurant in Indora, allegedly occupied Flat No. 201 on the second floor of Rana Palladium, situated on City Survey No. 2306 in Mouza Indora. The alleged incident came to light on September 1, 2026, when the complainant discovered that the apartment's original lock had been replaced.
According to the complaint, Nurjahan's late husband, Abbas Sadruddin Dhamani, had developed the Rana Palladium residential project. On August 24, 2023, he entered into a sale agreement with the accused for Flat No. 201 at a total price of ₹94 lakh. The couple reportedly paid ₹60.16 lakh in instalments, while the remaining ₹33.84 lakh was to be paid when possession was handed over. However, Abbas Dhamani passed away on October 6, 2025, before the transaction was completed.
The complainant alleged that Komal Yadav subsequently obtained the apartment keys on the pretext of showing the property to an architect. Instead of returning the keys, the accused allegedly replaced the existing door lock with a new one and took possession of the flat without completing the payment or obtaining the owner's consent.
The complainant further alleged that when she visited the property on September 1, 2026, her keys no longer worked. When she confronted Komal Yadav, an argument allegedly followed, during which she was verbally abused and threatened.
The complainant also claimed that the accused had started residing in the flat by September 14, 2026. Based on her complaint, Pachpaoli Police registered a case against Komal and Prabhatkumar Yadav on November 4, 2026, at approximately 8:21 pm, under Sections 329, 351(2), 352 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to alleged criminal trespass, intimidation, intentional insult and acts committed with common intention.
Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the disputed possession and the allegations made by the complainant.
