Nagpur: In a swift and strategic operation, Manakapur Police arrested a 24-year-old man who allegedly attempted to abduct a 4-year-old girl from her home late at night on June 27.

According to the FIR, the complainant—a 46-year-old woman—was asleep at her residence in the Manakapur area when an unidentified man, aged around 30–35, reached inside the closed door, unlocked it, and entered the house. He tried to flee with her granddaughter, aged 4 years and 11 months. However, the complainant woke up and raised an alarm, prompting the accused to abandon the child and escape.

Acting swiftly, Manakapur Police launched an intensive investigation and reviewed 55 CCTV camera feeds from the surrounding area. They identified and apprehended the suspect, Shravankumar Shivram Yadav (24), a resident of Kolte Layout, Godhni Railway, Manakapur. During interrogation, Yadav confessed to the crime.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Sections 74, 331(4), 137(2), 62) and Sections 7 & 8 of the POCSO Act. Further investigation is ongoing under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal and senior city police officials including PI Harish Kalsekar.
