Nagpur: A 31-year-old man was injured after his elder brother allegedly struck him on the head with a medicine bottle during a domestic dispute over their mother’s mangalsutra and household expenses in Bhuteshwar Nagar under the Kotwali police station limits.

According to the police, the incident took place around 10 pm on October 13, 2026. The complainant, Rahul Hatagade (31), and his elder brother, Mangesh Hatagade (36), live in the same house in Bhuteshwar Nagar, near Gangabai Ghat and the Durga temple.

Police said that when Rahul returned home, Mangesh questioned him about why he had not redeemed their mother’s mangalsutra, which had allegedly been pledged, and why he was not contributing towards household expenses.

An argument broke out between the brothers, during which Rahul allegedly became angry and threw Mangesh’s mobile phone on the floor. Enraged by this, Mangesh allegedly picked up a medicine bottle from inside the house and hit Rahul on the head, injuring him.

Rahul was subsequently taken to Mayo Hospital for medical treatment. Based on his complaint, Kotwali police registered a case against Mangesh under the relevant provisions of law.

Further investigation is underway.
