Nagpur: A 23-year-old man from Abhyankar Nagar in Nagpur was allegedly cheated of ₹15.14 lakhafter a man promised to place his car with TCS, secure him a job at the company and arrange a waiver of his outstanding loan, police said.

The accused has been identified as Archish Govindrao Badwaik, a resident of Govardhan Nagar in Tumsar, Bhandara district. He has not yet been arrested.

According to the complaint filed by Omkar Naresh Somewar, the complainant runs a car rental business. He became acquainted with Badwaik through the business.

Police said Badwaik allegedly told Somewar that he could arrange for his Kia car to be attached to TCS and also secure a job for him at the company. The accused allegedly further assured him that the outstanding loan on the complainant’s car would be waived.

Believing these assurances, Somewar and his parents allegedly paid a total of ₹15,14,450 to Badwaik through online transactions and in cash at different times.

The complainant later realised that the promises had allegedly been false and approached the Bajajnagar police.

Based on his complaint, Bajajnagar Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and provisions corresponding to cheating, forgery and use of forged documents under the earlier Indian Penal Code.

The alleged fraud took place between January 28 and March 31, 2026, according to the police record. The case was registered on July 26, 2026.

Police are investigating the financial transactions and the exact manner in which the accused allegedly collected the money.
